Kwakwani man to serve 30 hours’ community service for curfew violation

A Kwakwani, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) man was given 30 hours of community service by Magistrate Wanda Fortune on Friday after he was convicted for violating the countrywide COVID-19 curfew.
While five related matters were scheduled to be tried virtually at the Kwakwani Magistrate’s Court, only two persons appeared for their cases. The man is expected to carry out his 30 hours of community service at the Kwakwani Police Station. The other person who appeared to answer to the curfew violation charge was reprimanded and discharged by the Magistrate. The three remaining matters are scheduled to be heard on June 19, 2020.
