The Guyana Squash Association (GSA)/Ansa Mc Al Lucozade Handicap tournament progressed to the semi-final stages following a string of heated encounters at the Georgetown Club Inc. Courts.
Both categories; A and the Open, are now down to the final stages with Theron Mohabeer +8 advanced with a hard fought win over Javid Rahaman -2 15 – 7, 11 – 15, 15 – 5 in the Open.
He will meet Nyron Joseph -22 in the semifinals after Joseph defeated Taylor Fernandes 0 in straight games 15 – 13, 15 – 13.
Johnathan Antczak +7 reached his first ever semi-finals by outlasting Michael Atherly +10 winning 15 – 10, 7 – 15, 15 – 11. His opponent will be Daniel Islam -5 who simply outclassed his junior teammate Alex Cheeks -2. Daniel controlled most of the rallies with the final scores being 15 – 4, 15 – 6.
In category A Gianni Carpenter -8 squeaked past Louis Da Silva +8 with a close 3 – 15, 15 – 14, 15 – 12 win and will match up against defending champion Abosaide Cadogan 0 who eliminated Demetrius De Abreu -2 scores being 15 – 2, 6 – 15, 15 – 7.
Kirsten Gomes 0 played outstanding squash to defeat Ethan Jonas -2 13 – 15, 15 – 10, 15 – 6. She will have as her semi-final opponent Michael Alphonso -4 who defeated Lucas Jonas +2 15 – 11, 15 – 14. The finals will commence from 11.00h.
