Play in the West Demerara Cricket Association (WDCA) under-19 competition resumed last weekend with three scheduled matches. However, due to rain only one match was possible with McGill Sports Club beating Belle Vue by 17 wickets.
At the Belle Vue ground, McGill Sports Club batted first in the game reduced to 30 overs per side due to early morning rain and were bowled out for 155 in 26 overs. Satesh Basdeo lead the way with a fluent 68 (4×6; 3×4) with support from David Sears with 26.
Bowling for the home side, Romel Zamal (2/20), Rayan Seecharan (2/25) and Dev Seepersaud (2/30) were in the wickets’ column but their efforts were not enough to seal the victory. Belel Vue were also bowled out in 26 overs for 138 although they got promising starts from their batsmen with Saieed Persaud stroking 30, Shane Persaud 29 and Seepersaud 21.
Ravin Paramdeo picked up 3/15, Trevor Lawrie 2/8 and Sears 2/20 bowling for the victors.
At the Zeeburg ground no play was possible in the match between the home team and Cold Fusion U-19 as was the case at the Canal Number Two ground where Bell West were scheduled to take on Independence Sports Club. Meanwhile, the competition continues on Saturday with three matches on Saturday. Zeeburg will take on Cold Fusion, Independence SC battle Bell West and Metem Meer Zorg meet Belle Vue.
However, the venues have not yet been confirmed.
