Police have arrested two men after they were caught with ganja in their possession in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).

Reports are that on Tuesday at around 15:45h at the 70 KM Police Check Point, Region Seven, two males were arrested with 282 grams cannabis sativa.
At the time of the arrest, ranks were performing duties at the Number 70 KM Police Check Point when a red and black Lifan 150 motorcycle bearing no licence plate was stopped.
Ranks said the motorcycle was ridden by one of the suspects, who had a pillion rider.
A search was conducted on the rider and a parcel wrapped with transparent scotch tape was found in his crotch. It was examined and contained a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.

Further searches were carried out on the motorcycle, and another parcel was found under the motorcycle seat. It was examined and Police found more leaves, seeds, stems and cannabis.
They were both told of the offences committed and cautioned individually. Both suspects admitted ownership of the three parcels. It was weighed in their presence and amounted to 282 grams.
The narcotic and motorcycle were subsequently lodged while the suspects were placed in custody pending charges. (G9)
