More ganja found along Berbice River during joint operation

As Police continue their drug eradication exercise, a joint operation at Kimbia, Upper Berbice River, between Wednesday and Thursday led to the discovery of approximately three acres of farmland cultivated with about 5000 cannabis plants. The plants ranged from two to four feet in height, and were uprooted and destroyed by fire.
The estimated value of the narcotics destroyed is $847,000. At the time of the operation, no arrests were made. Investigations are ongoing.
Earlier in the month, Police destroyed some $264,933,120 worth of ganja at Kimbia. It was reported that during a 16-hour exercise, Police discovered two fields with a combined area of approximately eight acres, containing approximately 300,000 cannabis plants ranging from four feet to six feet in height.

In addition, two makeshift camps and two drying areas were also found at the location, with some 400 pounds of dried cannabis. The cannabis plants, dried cannabis, camps and drying areas were destroyed by fire. Just last month, some $258 million worth of ganja was found and destroyed in the same area. In this case, two fields measuring about seven acres, with approximately 310,000 cannabis sativa plants ranging from two to six feet in height, were discovered along with two makeshift camps and two drying areas.
In addition, 380 pounds of dried cannabis and farming tools were also found at the location. Back in March, the Police reported that $551 million worth of ganja was destroyed at De Veldt, Upper Berbice River. During that raid, about 640,000 cannabis plants, ranging between four and 10 feet in height, were destroyed along with 850 pounds of dried cannabis.
