More positive stroke play helped Chanderpaul cross the century mark

Tagenarine Chanderpaul

Twenty-nine-year-old opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul has been consistent with the bat during the Guyana Harpy Eagles’ successful West Indies championship thus far.
Chanderpaul had scores of 70, 17, 35, 69 and 117, taking his tally to 308 runs. According to the left-hander, playing more positively helped him cross the century mark.
Known for his cautious batting, Chanderpaul scored a 50 in his last Test match, which he played in New Zealand back in December last year.
“I played more positively in this game indeed. It was needed in the situation, in both innings. That worked out well for us,” the opener disclosed.
“We are heading home for a week to try and regroup, refresh and come back for the next two games. We batted well here and there, but we are bowling very well. We have to try and improve all around and play two good games of cricket,” Chanderpaul said.
He added: “When you are opening the batting, you don’t get in all the time, so when you get in, it’s about making the most of it and going as deep as possible.”
The Guyana Harpy Eagles will resume their tournament on May 10 against West Indies Academy.
