Motor insurance company conducts fraud investigation course

Guyana-born Cecil Jaipaul of Jaipaul Consulting, which is based in Toronto, Canada, in collaboration with the Insurance Institute of Guyana, held a motor claims fraud investigation course of members of the insurance industry in Guyana.
Topics discussed during the session included motor insurance policy coverage, identifying red flags and fraud indicators, understanding jurisprudence in Guyana, interviewing techniques and the Caribbean relating to the defence of suspicious and fraudulent motor claims.

Local agents noted that motor insurance fraud was not new to Guyana, but recognised that it was gaining traction, and new and creative ways were being developed to make fraudulent motor insurance claims.
