Pensioner busted with over 10lbs of ganja in suitcase

Agents of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) on Wednesday arrested a 64-year-old man with more than 4.5 kilograms ( 10 pounds) of compressed marijuana in his possession.

The illegal substance was reportedly found in a suitcase that he was pulling along Hadfield and Water Streets, Georgetown. The man of Bagotsville, West Bank Demerara (WBD) was reportedly in the vicinity of the old bank near the Stabroek Market when he was intercepted and the suitcase searched.
Inside the suitcase were nine parcels of compressed cannabis which when weighed amounted to 4.508 kilograms.
In addition, two small ziplock parcels containing 12 grams of ganja were also found in his pants pocket along with an undisclosed sum of cash.

The man was taken into custody pending charges.
