Peters Hall, Ruimveldt record wins in EBDCA/S&D Investments T20 competition

Over the weekend, round one of the 2022 East Bank Demerara Cricket Association’s S&D Investments T20 competition kicked off with a bang.

Omesh Dhanram scored 39 and bagged 3-9

The action saw Meadow Bank CC dominating Peters Hall CC and Ruimveldt SC demolishing Demolition Cricket Team. All matches were played at the Queen’s College cricket ground with game one at 09:00h and game two at 13:30h.

In match number one, Meadow Bank won the toss and elected to field. From the get-go, Meadow Bank pounced on Peters Hall, not wasting any time. They took control of the powerplay overs and attacked when needed; this resulted in Peters Hall struggling to find the gaps. Narendra Persaud (24) and Vikash Sewchan (21) were the only players who made some sort of an impact in the game. Peters Hall in the end were restricted to 121-9 in their allotted 20 overs. This was thanks to the excellent bowling of Shadrach Bacon, who bagged 4-19 from his three overs and Mohamad Nasir. who also snagged 4, from two overs for 17 runs.
Meadow Bank need 121 runs to win off 120 balls, a target that was achievable and allowed them to register their first points in the competition. After much effort from Peters Hall, there was nothing that could be done as the Meadow Bank side was too strong, ending on 122-3, after chasing down the total in 18.4 overs. Tuen Hicks scored a blistering 44, while Navindra Persaud and Kishaan Persaud chipped in with 20 and 15 runs respectively. Taking wickets for Peters Hall were Chaibraj Ramcharran 1-15 off 2.3 overs and Deonarine Dindyal 1-22 off his three overs.
In match number two, Ruimveldt SC had the better of Demolition Cricket Team by a whopping nine wickets. The likes of Omesh Dhanram and Ershaad Ali proved to be too much for the Demolition Team, as they took to the crease and were bundled out for a meagre 88 in their 20 overs. The team initially had no reply to the brilliant legspin bowling of Dhanram, who registered figures of 3-9 in his four overs, he was also supported by Eric Sukrah with 3-15 in 3.5 overs. In chasing such a small total, Ruimveldt ended on 89-1 in 8.2 overs. In reply, the duo of Ali and Dhanram then spared no Demolition bowler as they took them to every part of the ground, closing out the innings on 43 and 39 runs respectively.
