On March 3, Caesar was imbibing with his friends at a popular bar in the area when an argument erupted between himself and another man.
The verbal row quickly escalated into an altercation, which saw a 21-year-old miner intervening. However, after the fight ended, Caesar and his friends headed to their mining camp. At about 23:30h, the now dead man and his 21-year-old friend stopped along the roadway and were conversing when they were confronted by a man carrying a shotgun.
The gunman, identified as a security guard commonly referred to as “Tallman”, allegedly shot Caesar to his left foot and gun-butted him. He then fled the scene.
Caesar was immediately picked up and taken to the Mahdia District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
