Police officer injured in accident along Brickdam

A 23-year-old Police Constable attached to the Brickdam Police Station is now hospitalised following an accident at Brickdam and Sendall Place, Georgetown, on Tuesday.
Based on reports received, William Austin was riding motorcycle CK 84 along Brickdam when a motor car bearing registration number PEE 4545 collided with him.
As a result of the collision, Austin fell onto the roadway and received injuries about his body.
The police officer was picked up and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where he was treated for soft tissue damage to the face and a fractured leg. He remains a patient at the medical facility.
The police stated that the motor car, which was driven by a 75-year-old woman of South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, failed to stop at the intersection as was required, thus causing the collision. She was detained as Police continue their investigations.
