…urged to be “agents of change, drivers of
development” in regions
President David Granger on Monday swore in several Mayors and their Deputies to serve in the country’s 10 towns.
The re-elected Mayors and Deputy Mayors were urged by Granger to ensure that each town delivers efficient public services in collaboration with the national and local levels.
“They are now expected to become agents of change, drivers of development and protectors of the environment, in collaboration with Central Government and the Regional Democratic Councils. Towns are the main centres of commerce and industry; they are the principal terminals of trade and are the seats of public Administration. They are intended of providing leadership for the progress of the outlying areas of the large regions,” Granger said.
