Gordon Richards and Douglas DeGroot emerged as the respective Senior and Junior top shots when the A&N Sarjoo Cambio sponsored Guyana National Rifle Association (GNRA) Practical Pistol Shoot was contested on Sunday at the Timehri Ranges.
Competing against 14 of the best senior shooters in the GNRA, Richards emerged as the best with a total hit factor of 5.20, which relegated Mohamed Qualander to the second place with a total hit factor of 4.87.
Rajiv Latchana placed third (4.83), Ryan McKinnon fourth (4.08) and Dr Johan DaSilva fifth with 3.97.
DeGroot, with a total hit factor of 2.17, was the best junior shooter from a field of 10. Joseph Lewis (2.14), Totoram Bishundat (1.46), Gordon Pearson (1.41) and Stefan Dundas (1.02) occupied the second to fifth places in the competition that saw all the competitors testing their trigger skills in two stages of fast-paced shooting for overall points.
Representatives of A&N Sarjoo Cambio were on hand to present the trophies to the top five in each category. They expressed gratitude to the GNRA for allowing them the opportunity to sponsor the event and have committed to further sponsorship.
Dale Hing, the GNRA Small Bore captain, conveyed the association’s gratitude to the A&N Sarjoo Cambio for their partnership whilst congratulating all the shooters for braving the heat to showcase their skills.
Hing has informed that the next event, a .22 competition, is set for the Guyana Police Force Tactical Service Unit Range on April 23.
