Defending champions Guyana Harpy Eagles endured a testing second day in their Regional Four-Day Championship clash against the Windward Islands Volcanoes as action continued at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.
Resuming the morning on two without loss, Guyana were jolted early when Gilon Tyson struck twice to reduce them to 20 for 2. Kevlon Anderson and Matthew Nandu both fell for four apiece, handing the Volcanoes early momentum and putting the Harpy Eagles on the back foot.
Guyana, however, steadied the innings through a crucial 99-run partnership between Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Kemol Savory. The pair showed patience and composure against disciplined bowling, gradually rebuilding after the early setbacks.

Chanderpaul was the more watchful of the two, crafting a determined 70 from 179 deliveries, an innings that included eight boundaries. His dismissal with the score at 164 for four reopened the door for the Volcanoes, who sensed an opportunity to press for further breakthroughs.
Savory continued to anchor the innings, playing positively and keeping the scoreboard moving. He struck eight fours and two sixes in an enterprising 77 from 153 balls before eventually being dismissed, denying him what would have been a well-deserved century.

Despite the middle-order resistance, Guyana lost wickets at regular intervals late in the day and slipped to 257 for nine at stumps. Veerasammy Permaul was unbeaten on 20, with Raymond Perez on two, as the Harpy Eagles closed the day trailing the Volcanoes first-innings total of 286 by 29 runs.
With one wicket remaining, Guyana will look to erase the deficit quickly on the third morning, while the Volcanoes will be eager to wrap up the innings and seize control of the contest.
