Sobers’ double powers Pele past Black Pearl in GFF/GFA Ensemble U17 tournament

Ryan Sobers scored twice as Pele Football Club defeated Black Pearl 4-0 when the Guyana Football Federation (GFF)/ Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Youth Ensemble Under-17 Tournament continued on Saturday last at Parade Ground, Georgetown.

Sobers opened the scoring in the 22nd minute before finding the back of the net again four minutes later to give Pele early control of the match.
Adrian David extended the advantage in the 34th minute, while Labron Parks completed the scoring three minutes later as Pele carried a commanding 4-0 lead into the closing stages.
The second match between Beacon FC and Riddim Squad FC ended goalless despite both teams making changes in search of a breakthrough.
Beacon introduced A. Peters for J. Nedd in the 48th minute, while T. Gordon replaced D.H. two minutes later. Riddim Squad also made a change in the 50th minute, with Dequan Gordon replacing Jashawn Marshall.
Beacon finished the match with 10 players after Kevin Bunton was shown a red card in the 56th minute. Bunton had previously received a yellow card in the 28th minute.
The competition is slated to continue on Saturday, October 3 at the same venue.
Eastveldt FC will face Black Pearl FC in the opening match at noon followed by Pele FC clashing with Riddim Squad FC. Beacon FC and Vengy FC will close the day’s action.
