Sri Lanka have named a 16-member squad for the 2026 International Masters Cricket (IMC) Over-40s World Cup, scheduled for October 17 to November 1 in Guyana.
Attacking batsman Rajiv Nirmalasingham will Captain the team, while versatile all-rounder Suneth Sampath has been appointed Vice Captain.
Sri Lanka will compete in Group A alongside Australia, Canada, the West Indies, Namibia, and the defending champions South Africa, Wales and Colombia. They will begin their campaign against the West Indies at the National Stadium, Providence.
Group B consists of England, New Zealand, India, Pakistan, the United States of America, Scotland, the Rest of the World XI and the Rest of the Caribbean XI.
The tournament will feature 16 teams, with the top two sides from each group advancing to the semi-finals. The championship match will also be played at Providence.
Sri Lanka will be aiming for an improved performance after failing to progress beyond the group stage at the inaugural Over-40s World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2024. They recorded two victories from five group matches on that occasion.
The Sri Lanka Cricket Masters Association said the team is ready to compete on the international stage and believes the players will demonstrate pride, passion and commitment while showing that age is no barrier.
The association also extended best wishes to the squad as it prepares to carry Sri Lanka’s flag against leading Masters teams from around the world.
The full squad is Rajiv Nirmalasingham (Captain), Suneth Sampath (Vice Captain), Mevan Fernando, Ruwan Premathilaka, Dasis Ishanthamaal, Hansa Wijayasundara, Mohan Wickramasinghe, Sineth Withanage, Jonathan Weerasuriya, Achinta Jayawardena, Manjula Guruge, Ujitha Sepala, Arosh Fernandopulle, Nuwan Sovis, Damith Arjune, and Charith Anthony.
