St Ignatius Secondary secured top spot in the opening group of the Blue Water Shipping Girls U15 National Championship following an unbeaten run when the competition kicked off on Friday in Region Nine at Nappi Village.
The opening group featured St Ignatius Secondary, Nappi Secondary, and newcomer Katoka Secondary competing for a place in the regional playoff round.

Nappi Secondary recorded the first win of the tournament with a narrow 1-0 victory over Katoka Secondary in the opening match of the competition. Shereza Francis etched her name into the tournament’s history books by scoring the first goal of the 2026 championship.
St Ignatius Secondary then produced the most dominant performance of the day, defeating Katoka Secondary 6-0. Leana Benjamin led the attack with four goals, while Sonia Simon and Teairran Martin each added one goal in the comfortable victory.

In the final game of the group, St Ignatius Secondary edged Nappi Secondary 1-0 to complete a perfect campaign. Reona Ignatius scored the lone goal of the encounter to seal the win.
With the results, St Ignatius Secondary emerged as the winner of the group and will now await the winners from the remaining two groups in Region Nine to contest a playoff that will determine the regional champion team.
