Scores of spectators who gathered at Fairfield ground were treated to all the excitement that T20 cricket has to offer as they witnessed a thrilling final of the East Coast Cricket Committee tournament between Strathavon and Enmore, but it was Strathavon who secured the title.
Throughout approximately three and a half hours, the match swung back and forth until the last ball was bowled with the match ending in favour of Strathavon, who won by three wickets.
With the scores leveled on 115 with one ball to be bowled in Yuvraj Dyal’s final over the pair of Daiaram Hemraj and Sewchand Budhu came together to have a chat and shortly after the former nudged a ball into a gap and scampered off in celebration for the much needed one run.
Earlier, Strathavon won the toss and elected to field. Enmore made 115 all out from their allotment of 20 overs with Imran Hassan leading the way with 30 runs. Emerging off-spinner Gajanan Suknanan was at his usual self claiming wickets and restricting batsmen as he finished with figures of 3-7 from four overs. He was equally matched by Jermaine Tyndall, who ended with identical figures. For their efforts the two were adjudged best bowler(s).
In reply, Strathavon made 116-7 in 20 overs, Gobindram Hemraj was the main scorer with 34 and was rewarded with the accolade for best batsman.
