A teenager was stabbed to death on Wednesday evening in the vicinity of the Route 40 Minibus Park, Croal Street, Georgetown, while allegedly making rough jokes with friends.
Dead is 17-year-old Keroy Profit from Covent Garden, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
Based on reports received, the deceased and a 17-year-old male, who are known to each other, were among a group of students when they were allegedly engaged in horseplay.
However, during the incident, a suspect who was armed with a pair of scissors allegedly dealt the deceased one stab to his neck.
Profit reportedly collapsed and was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he succumbed while receiving medical treatment. His body is at the medical facility’s mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
Investigators have since extracted CCTV footage, which is currently being reviewed. The suspect, from Cummings Park, E Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown, was arrested, and he is assisting with investigations.
