Vendor remanded on armed robbery charges

A vendor was on Monday slapped with four armed robbery charges when he made his first court appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Eighteen-year-old Leon Patterson appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty and denied the charges when they were read to him.
Police stated that on October 11, 2019, at Meadow Brook Gardens, Georgetown, while being in the company of others and armed with a gun, he robbed Jerome Mitchel of a motorcycle valued at $290,000.
The second charge alleged that on October 14, 2019, at Baramita Street, South Ruimveldt, Patterson, while being in the company of others and armed with a gun, robbed Richard Porsha of a motorcycle valued at $435, 000.
The third charge alleged that on the same day at Freeman Street, East La Penitence, he robbed Tyrese George of an iPhone 7 Plus valued at $87,000.
He was also accused of robbing Timothy Estwick of a motorcycle valued at $175,000 and an iPhone valued at $60,000 on the same day.
Police Prosecutor Quinn Harris objected to bail being granted to the defendant and as such, he was remanded to prison and will make his next court appearance on November 25, 2019.
