West Indies Championships: Motie 6-fer, Imlach century, lifts GHE to 10- wicket win
A six- wicket haul delighted the smattering of cricket fans at the Guyana National Stadium (GNS), Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD) on Phagwah day; resulting in a swift collapse of the Windward Islands Volcanoes’ batting line up in the second innings of the Round five, West Indies Championships clash.
Tevin Imlach brought up another century
After Ronaldo Alimohamed opened the flood gates by removing Stephan Pascal for 23 from 35 in the second innings; Motie ran rampant, claiming the big wickets of Jeremy Solozano, Kavem Hodge, Sunil Ambris and shadrack Descarte to reduce the Windward Volcanoes.
Gudakesh Motie claimed a 6- fer to rout Windwards cheaply
Motie claimed 6-38 from 20.5 Overs while Veerasamy Permaul snared 3-46 from 15 Overs to rout Windward cheaply for 135 in 47.5 Overs.
Hodge top- scored for the Windwards with 40 off 70 balls, including 4 fours and a six while Pascal hit 22 from 35 balls.
Thereafter, the Harpy Eagles needed only 28 runs to romp to victory. Matthew Nandu and Ramymond Perez remained unbeaten on 18 and 10 runs respectively to seal the 10- wicket win.
Earlier in the day, Captain Tevin Imlach hit his second century this season to bat his team into a commanding position.
Improving on an overnight score of 40, Imlach hit 113 in 201 deliveries, encompassing 8 boundaries. On the other hand, Kemol Savory fell agonisingly short of a half century, hitting 49 in 85 balls. Gudakesh Motie added 32 to the score while Kevin Sinclair and Ronaldo Alimohamed contributed 20 runs each to the tally, as the Harpy eagles got to 324 before being bowled out in 83.2 overs.
