A family of seven of Somerset and Berks, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) are now homeless after their one-storey wooden home was completely destroyed by fire.
Reports are no one was at home when the fire started about 23:00h on Monday.
This newspaper was told that the impoverished family usually receives support from neighbours and several Non-Governmental Organisations.
The wooden structure was owned by a 45-year-old man identified only as Pension and Radha (only name given). Guyana Times was told that when the father of six leaves for his sea job, his 40-year-old wife would usually stay with her daughter at Walton Hall Village.
It is unclear what may have started the fire. Police are investigating.
