All roads lead to Rising Sun for historical Guyana Cup today

The stage is set for the most lucrative day in Guyana’s horse racing, today, Sunday, August 23, at Rising Sun Turf Club. The weather conditions are immaculate, and 14 high-quality races are on the cards for a 09:00h start.
More than GY$66 million in cash and prizes will be up for grabs, and top horses, familiar and new, will take centre stage at Rising Sun Turf Club. The year-long preparation has come down to this day, and fans are filled with excitement for the prestigious event.
Master Z’s top horse, Dataman, is the defending champion, and he is set to run from the first gate in the feature one-mile event, sponsored by Banks DIH.
Former Guyana Cup champion Olympic Kremlin is set for one final run, and it could be a fairytale ending to the Slingerz Racing stables’ household name horse.
Five new horses will be in the feature race, with a total of 10 horses in the gate. Jockeys from Brazil, Trinidad, and Guyana and fans from around the globe are already in Guyana for Guyana’s hottest event of the year.

Jockey Colin Ross, who will be on Stat for the feature race, is the leading jockey heading into the Guyana Cup.
In addition to the 14 high-profile races, a family fun day is on the cards. A kids’ zone will be at Rising Sun, and the excitement will be felt from the gate of entry to every part of the ground. This year fans will have a wider view of the races, and a lucky fan will drive away with a brand-new SinoTruk pick-up truck, compliments of Jumbo Jet.
