CWI Women’s U19-Trinidad & Tobago crowned champions as Guyana claim fifth place

Guyana Under-19 Women ended their Cricket West Indies (CWI) Rising Stars Women’s Under-19 Championship campaign on a winning note, defeating the Windward Islands by 64 runs in the fifth-place playoff.
After winning the toss and electing to field at the Coolidge Cricket Ground, the Windward Islands restricted Guyana to 100 for seven from their 20 overs. Briana Samaroo top-scored with 23 from 41 balls, while Jada Fraser also made 23, off 33 deliveries.
Daisy Woods and Ammie Antoine were the leading Windward Islands bowlers, claiming two wickets apiece.
Guyana’s bowlers then produced their best performance of the tournament, dismantling the Windward Islands’ batting line-up for just 36 in 14 overs. No Windward Islands batter managed to reach double figures, with Sowanna Booker and Shenesa Thomas claiming three wickets each to seal Guyana’s first victory of the competition.

In the third-place playoff, Jamaica Under-19 Women defeated Leeward Islands Under-19 Women by five wickets.
Leeward Islands, after winning the toss and batting first, posted 69 for eight from their 20 overs. Captain Aaliyah Weekes led the scoring with 18 from 18 balls, while Zara Skerritt added 12 from 23.
Adanya Baugh was Jamaica’s standout performer, taking two for 21 before returning with the bat to score an unbeaten 10 from 22 balls. Her contribution helped Jamaica reach 70 for five in 16.3 overs and secure third place.
The championship title went to Trinidad and Tobago Under-19 Women, who defeated Barbados by six wickets.
Barbados, sent in to bat after Trinidad and Tobago won the toss, made 104 for five from their 20 overs. Zaniyah Bruce remained unbeaten on 30 from 25 balls, hitting five fours, while Eboni Brathwaite contributed 27 from 25 deliveries, including four fours and a six.
Sameera Naidoo was the pick of the Trinidad and Tobago bowlers, finishing with three for 18 from her four overs.
Trinidad and Tobago suffered an early setback when captain Samara Ramnath was dismissed, but Amrita Ramtahal and Seraiah Kawalsingh steadied the innings. Ramtahal made 29 from 34 balls, while Kawalsingh scored 27 from 41 deliveries as Trinidad and Tobago reached 105 for four in 19 overs.
The victory secured the championship title for Trinidad and Tobago, while Guyana’s convincing win over Windward Islands ensured they finished the tournament on a positive note.
