Douglas hits 123, West Indies beaten again

Guyanese B3 player, Jamal Douglas hit an authoritative 123 but the West Indies went down to Bangladesh by eight wickets in round four of the T20 World Cup for the Blind in India on Thursday. Douglas who has shown good form without going on hit 17 fours from the 65 balls faced in 84 minutes opening the batting.

quick succession as the West Indies stumbled to 43/3 at the start of the fifth over with Caneel Graham (1), Leroy Phillips (2) and Lo-Shane Myles (9) all back in the hut.

Bangladesh got their third win from their fourth match when they reached 196/2 from 19.4 overs. It took an unfinished brilliant 145-run partnership between Tanzijlur Rahman (90 not out) and Mahbubul Emon (52 not out) to get them over the rope to move to nine points.

There was one wicket each for Myles (34-1) and Anthony Cummins (55-1) while Ganesh Singh (40-0) and Douglas (30-0) were wicket less.

The tournament continues today with five more Bangladesh playing bottom of the table New Zealand while West Indies take on second placed Australia in Mumbai. Other matches are India taking on South Africa, Nepal playing points leaders Pakistan and England battling Sri Lanka.

Douglas found a good partner in Gregory Stewart (40) to put on 151 for the fourth wicket before they were both dismissed in the final over. Mohammed Mahnud Rashid was Bangladesh’s best bowler with 1-18 from three overs as the West Indies made 195/6 with four batsmen falling via the run out route.
