Festival City man charged for purchasing stolen TV

A man from Festival City, Georgetown, was on Wednesday charged for purchasing a stolen television set and made an appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

Emmanuel Darrel, 28, of Lot 1848 Nutmeg Street, Festival City, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan to answer to the charge.

He denied the allegation which stated that between July 29 and 30, 2017, at Festival City, he received from Joshua Austin one television set valued $146,996, knowing same to have been feloniously stolen or unlawfully obtained. The item was the property of Shawn Ferguson.

The court was told that the defendant purchased the television set from Austin, who was later jailed for two years for the theft of the item, among others.

Darrel was granted bail in the sum of $50,000 and is expected to return to court on August 22.
