
The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has extended condolences on the passing of Jai Narine “Don” Singh, a former President of the historic Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) and a respected figure in public life and cricket.
In a statement, the President, executives and staff of the GCB expressed sympathy to Singh’s family, relatives, friends, colleagues, the GCC and all those affected by his passing.
Singh was remembered as a distinguished public servant, a prominent councillor of the Georgetown mayor and city council, and someone who made meaningful contributions to local government, public affairs, community development and cricket in Guyana.
The GCB said his long association with the GCC and his service to the wider cricket fraternity reflected his passion for the game and his commitment to its growth and development.
According to the board, Singh’s leadership, dedication and public service left a lasting impression on those who had the opportunity to work with him and know him.
The GCB joined the wider cricket community in mourning his passing while recognising his contribution to both the sport and national life.
On behalf of GCB President Bissoondyal Singh, the executives, staff, and the board, sincere condolences were offered, and prayers were said that Singh’s soul rests in peace and rises in glory.
