GFC, Police to vie for Corona Football title

GFC’s Benjamin Opara (no.9) in action against Northern Rangers

For the home side, they made light work of the Northern Rangers winning 3-0 with Benjamin Opara netting a brace in the 14th and 64th and the other goal coming from Dwayne Roberto in the 55th.
Opara’s first goal brought the sizable crowd in attendance to its feet when he whizzed the ball pass and outstretched custodian.

The second stanza, saw Rangers backline continue to run ragged as Opara assisted the second goal with a looping cross from the right flank which Roberto responded with a diving header – arguably the goal of the night.
GFC were not finished with their opposition as yet since a counter-attack gave Opara another chance to etch his name on the score sheet which obliged with powerful shot to the lower right ended the one sided contest.
In the other semi-final which was marred by four red cards, saw Police winning 1-0 against rivals Western Tigers. The experienced Dwain Jacobs scored on the brink of half time (45+1).
The red cards incidents were virtue of the physicality of the match and to large extent indiscipline by the players.
Police’s Quincy Holder was sent off in the 31st minute along with opposite number Barrel Tyrell for a scuffle on the field. Additional red cards came for Lerone Charles (Police) in the 72nd and Linden Pickett (Western Tigers) in the 55th.
