GPF impresses in Best of the Best martial arts championships

The Guyana Police Force (GPF), in collaboration with the Harpy Eagle Martial Arts Academy, recently concluded the Best of the Best martial arts championships at the National Gymnasium.

The competition was held on Sunday, April 28, and saw a total of 43 medals being won. Of the lot, 29 were gold, 7 were silver, and the same amount was bronze.
According to Sensei Troy Bobb, an instructor at both the GPF and Harpy Eagle, this is the 8th anniversary of the tournament, which has always been successful, as every year there is an increase in the amount of participants.
Bobb declared he is very proud of the GPF, who this year walked away with more medals than they had received in previous years. He also noted that he is extremely proud that a 5-year-old member of the Harpy Eagle was able to attain 2 gold medals and 1 bronze.
Further, Bobb related that the tournament creates exposure for newcomers from both sides, as they are able to showcase their skills on a large platform.
Winning gold for the Harpy Eagle Martial Arts Academy were Zion Summer; Michael Palms; Anthony Cyril, who claimed two gold and one bronze; Akel Cromwell; Crystal Ignatius; Mark Zaman, who also bagged two gold and one bronze; Joshua Rodney, who also took two gold; and Daquan Bradshaw, who picked up one gold and a silver.
Dillon Weeks also picked up a silver medal, while Paul Wilson and Jamal Smith picked up silver and bronze respectively.
Winning medals for the GPF were: Kwanza Thompson, who picked up gold; Ryan Beaton, who picked up one gold and one silver; Sensei Bobb, who copped two gold; Dellious Small and Kareem Simon, who each copped gold; Troy Bobb Jnr, who added three gold to his name; Ejaz Cave, who copped one gold and a bronze; Canesha Phillips and Nigel McKenzie, who each copped gold; Elizabeth Clement, who copped one gold and a silver; Dione Bobb, Paul Ignatius, Shawn nurse and Courtney Williams, who each copped gold; Nyesha Carrington and Dexter Bobb, who each copped two golds.
Bagging silver were Trevlon Clarke and Travis Grant, while Elijah Seraphin settled for bronze.
