A man who allegedly armed himself with an ice-pick and carried out a robbery, was on Friday remanded to prison when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts before Magistrate Annette Singh.
Cheddie Bacchus, 29, was charged with robbery under arms, but denied the charge when it was read to him.
The charge stated that on December 12 at D’Urban Street, Georgetown, Bacchus while in the company of another and armed with an ice-picker, robbed Troy Braithwaite of two cellular phones valued $200,000.
Prosecutor, Christopher Morris, objected to bail based on the prevalence of the offence and due to the fact that a dangerous weapon was used in its course.
As such Magistrate Singh denied bail and Bacchus was sent to spend his Christmas behind bars.
The case will continue on December 30.
