An East Bank Demerara (EBD) resident was killed on Wednesday after he was struck to the head during an argument with a friend.
Dead is 51-year-old Vernon Cummings, a labourer of Ice House Road, Timehri, EBD. The incident occurred sometime at about 17:00h at the Timehri Docks, EBD.
According to Police reports, Cummings and the suspect had an argument during which the latter picked up a piece of metal pipe and hit the labourer on the back of his head, fatally injuring him. The body of Cummings is currently at the Lyken Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination, which is expected to be done today. Meanwhile, the 41-year-old suspect, also a labourer of Ice House Road, Timehri, has since been taken into Police custody and is assisting with further investigations.
