Limacol Schools’ League: Chase, Ann’s Grove win in 6th round

With just one round to go, Chase’s Academic Foundation have practically sealed a victory in the NEW GPC INC-sponsored Limacol Schools’ Football League.
This is as a result of the Georgetown outfit getting back to their winning ways when the tournament resumed for the sixth round on Sunday, when Ann’s Grove Secondary also found themselves in the winners’ row.
Arguably one of the best school teams around, Chase defeated Bartica Secondary 3-1 on Sunday at the Ministry of Education (MoE) Ground to inch one step closer to a League victory in just the sixth round.

Chase’s Bryan Wharton opened the scoring in the 21st minute, after which Neeiaz Baksh made it a 2-0 affair three minutes later.
The next goal was witnessed was in the second half, when Omar Sam found the back of the net in the 49th minute via the penalty route. In the 52nd minute, Bartica Secondary pulled one back by way of a Nic Table goal.
In the game that followed, victory was the result for Ann’s Grove Secondary, who mauled Christianburg Wismar Secondary 5-1.
Narron Jerrick opened the scoring in the 16th minute for Ann’s Grove, but a 28th minute strike off the boots of Christianburg’s D’Wayne Garraway levelled the scores.
However, in the second half, Ann’s Grove started a score- fest. First, Jerrick broke the deadlock and completed his brace in the 55th minute, after which Keron Argyle extended their tally to three in the 58th. One goal each from Kevron Pompey and Travis Williams in the 62nd and 64th minute respectively, brought the scores to 5-1 in Ann’s Grove’s favour.

The final game of the day ended with Carmel Secondary and Santa Rosa Secondary sharing points, in what was a must-win encounter for the latter.
Carmel’s leading man, Ian Daniels struck as early as the fourth minute through a penalty opportunity, but was unable to find the back of the net again for the remainder of the game. The score remained 1-0 until a few minutes before time expired when Rupee Norton scored in the 67th minute to equalise the scores and effect the 1-1 draw.
Currently, Chase’s Academy lead the points table with 16 points from 6 games (5 wins and a draw), while Carmel Secondary sit in second position with 13 points (4 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss). In spite of Sunday’s loss, Bartica Secondary are still in the top three with 12 points (4 wins and two losses). Meanwhile, Santa Rosa Secondary round off the top four with 10 points from six games.
The seventh and final round of the Limacol Schools’ Football League will be contested next Sunday, December 3, at the same Carifesta Avenue venue.
