Malteenoes march on with emphatic win over GT XI

Malteenoes Sports Club produced a dominant all-round performance on Sunday, August 30, to dismantle Georgetown Cricket XI (GT XI) by 196 runs in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) Eline Security Logistics Under-17 50-Over Eliminator at the Malteenoes Sports Club ground in Georgetown.
Having won the toss and elected to bat, the home side, Malteenoes, overcame an early middle-order wobble to post a formidable 286 all out in 45.5 overs, setting GT XI a daunting target.
Openers Deshawn Ramnauth and Shane Kissoondeo laid the foundation with a solid 52-run partnership before Ajay Kissoon broke the stand, dismissing Ramnauth for 24 from 32 balls.

Malteenoes then slipped into a mini-collapse as Kissoondeo was dismissed for 25, followed by Joshua Budhram for 22 from 20 balls and Nathaniel Ramkallawan for five, leaving the hosts precariously placed at 103 for four after 19.4 overs.
However, Kyle Gibson and Joshua Bollers changed the complexion of the innings with an important 86-run partnership.
Gibson eventually departed for a brisk 56 from 38 balls, decorated with three fours and three sixes, while lower-order batsman Troy Anderson added a valuable 31.
Bollers anchored the innings in impressive fashion before falling for 81 from 87 balls, including four fours and a six, as the hosts eventually reached 286 before being bowled out.
Elijah Mohammed and Zahid Talkudar were the leading wicket-takers for GT XI with two wickets apiece.

GT XI’s reply, however, never got going as the Malteenoes bowling attack ripped through their batting line-up.
Joshua Budhram spearheaded the demolition with a superb 4-12 from 4.4 overs, while Bollers capped his impressive all-round contribution with 2-22. Tyler Nedd, Ramnauth, and Ramkallawan claimed one wicket each.
GT XI were eventually dismissed for just 90 in 21.4 overs, with Nathan Clarke offering the only significant resistance with 32 from 38 balls.
The emphatic 196-run victory sees Malteenoes advance from the Eliminator and remain firmly in contention for the Under-17 title.
