A West Coast Berbice pensioner died on Boxing Day after being hit by a speeding car because the driver tried to save a sheep. The incident occurred at Number 41 Village, a few houses away from where the victim lived.

Dead is Carloy Moore, also called Carl Moore, 77, of Lot 28 Number 41 Village, Berbice.
Moore was struck on December 17 and died on December 26 at the Fort Wellington Hospital.
Reports are on December 17, Moore was attempting to cross the road and did not make it to the corner when he was hit.
According to one eyewitness, the car was driving at a fast rate of speed when a sheep ran into its path.
The driver, who is from Perth Village Mahaicony, reportedly applied the brakes as skid marks can be seen on the roadway. Moore was nonetheless hit a few feet away from the parapet.
He was taken to the Fort Wellington Hospital and transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital on December 18.
A computed tomography (CT) scan revealed that Moore had a concussion to the brain. He was discharged from that institution on Christmas Eve.
According to his daughter Carolyn, Moore was still unwell.
“He was speaking and we fed him but the night he started to get a fever and we noticed that his condition was not improving. The next day we took him to the Fort Wellington Hospital,” she told this publication.
Meanwhile, the driver who was initially detained has been released on station bail.
