Seaton Jr, Winter begin Goodwill quest on a high note
The Guyana Amateur Swimming Association (GASA), in collaboration with the Dolphin Speed Swim Club, on Friday evening began their three-day, inter-club swim meet, which will act as a trial for the upcoming Goodwill Games.
Friday afternoon’s meet saw the usual high fliers recording solid times, thus helping to cement their spot in the 40-member team representing Guyana later this year.
Gold medallist at last year’s games, Leon Seaton Jr. of Silver Sharks Aquatic Club, started his campaign with a win in the boys 14-13 100M Freestyle by clocking 58.40s, well ahead of second place Ejaz Mohamed’s 1:03.85. Sekhel Tzedeq of Dolphin Speed Swim Club rounded of the third spot with a time of 1:04.72.
In the female freestyle, Lian Winter of Dorado Speed Swim Club showed her dominance with a time of 1:09.09. Orca Speed Swim Club’s Amber De Goeas followed closely with a time of 1:10.98, whilst Donna Carter also of Dorado, copped third with 1:11.63.
Nathan Jackson, Aleka Persaud, Jeron Sookram, Ariel Rodrigues, Safraaz Mohamed and Shareefah Lewis were all in the winners’ circle on Friday.
Action continues today at the National Aquatic Centre at Liliendaal with 100 metres and 200 metres individual medley, 50M Freestyle, 50M Butterfly and 100M Breast stroke.
