Magnum ‘Mash Cup’ Futsal
– round-of 16 gets cracking tonight
The group matches of the riveting Magnum ‘Mash Cup’ Futsal Tournament have concluded and Sparta Boss, Bent Street are among some of the top teams to progress to the round-of-sixteen which commences tonight at the National Gymnasium.
Team Extreme (red attire) and Showstoppers had the fans on their feet with invigorating action at the National Gymnasium on Saturday evening
The other teams which made the cut are Future Stars, ANSA McAL All-stars, Swag Entertainment, Showstoppers, Team Extreme, Albouystown ‘B’, Back Circle, Gold is Money, Ol Skool Ballers, Alexander Village, North East La Penitence, NK Ballers, Leopold Street and Silver Bullets.
On Saturday, New Market Street and Rugby Team played to a 2-2 draw with Peabo Hamilton and Rickford Cummings scoring in the 4th and 5th respectively for the latter while the equalising goals came from Kevin Baptiste (6th) and Mickel Brandt (7th).
Stalemates continued as the star-studded Team Extreme gifted the lead Pernell Schultz gave them in the 2nd minute to Showstoppers who equalized in the 16th via Stephon Jupiter.

Hustlers lost their must-win match when Leon Yaw scored in the 14th minute for Alexander Village while YMCA All-Stars defeated Albouystown ‘A’ via strikes from Travis Grant (8th) and Roberto Osborne (12th).
Likewise, Andrew Murray Jr with a goal in the 17th made the difference in Bent Street’s clash with Swag Entertainment and Sparta bullied Silver Bullets with Gregory Richardson scoring a double (3rd & 18th) and supported by Quincy Adams (13th).
Showstoppers Trayon Bobb provided the attacking burst for his team in their match against Team Extreme but the score ended 1-1 on Saturday at the National Gymnasium
North Ruimveldt and Sophia clash was a no contest but North East La Penitence got down to business against Tigerbay winning 2-0 on the back of Keifer Brandt (12th) and Clavin Moore (15th).
The most thumping victory of the night came when Leopold Street shot six pass Mocha who could only respond with one. Mark Jhalu (4th &14th) and Tyrese Forde (7th & 16th) helped themselves to a brace each while more goals came pouring in from Darren Benjamin- (6th) and Okeene Fraser (11th); Rolex Smith had given Mocha the lead in the 3rd minute.
Moses Grittens’ strike in the 8th minute helped Albouystown ‘B’ edge Back Circle while Future Stars decimated Channel-9 Warriors with a 4-0 drubbing. Curtez Kellman (4th), Akeemo Anthony (9th), Alex Moore (12th) and Raphael Edwards (14th) were on target.
The final saw Colin Nelson helping Gold is Money easily defeat Ol Skool Ballers when he scored in the 14th minute.
With the final slated for Saturday, the winning team is poised to pocket $400,000 while first runner-up will collect $200,000, the third place finisher will pocket $100,000 and fourth place $50,000.
