Toddler’s PME inconclusive, Police yet to find uncle
Drug-laced milk
A post-mortem examination performed on the body of two-year-old Ronaldo Dave Favourite, of C Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown, who died after consuming milk laced with drugs, was inconclusive.
This was confirmed by Regional Commander Simon McBean.
According to the Commander, samples were taken from the child’s body for testing to determine the cause of death. However, McBean noted that now that the PME has been completed, further investigations into the child’s death will continue. He also added that investigators are still to locate the child’s uncle for questioning in relation to the death.
Favourite succumbed at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) on September 25, almost three weeks after he reportedly consumed milk laced with methamphetamine, also referred to as “Molly”.
It is alleged that the uncle of the child mixed “a pill” in milk for his own consumption, however, it was left on a table to dissolve and the child consumed the concoction.
Police have since said that the child fell sick and was rushed to the hospital in an unresponsive state. It was then that doctors discovered the presence of methamphetamine in his system. He was treated and discharged but later readmitted.
Favourite was left in the care of his relatives after his mother died on August 23, 2020.
On September 7, the child’s 25-year-old aunt was arrested after it was reported that the toddler was in her custody when he consumed the drug-laced milk. However, the woman was released. She was then re-arrested after the child died.
According to Police, the woman told the investigators that it was her younger brother who mixed the substance into milk which the toddler later consumed. Following questioning by Police, she was again released.
Now, the hunt for the child’s uncle has intensified, to answer questions that might help to bring closure to the case. (G9)
