The Trophy Stall Port Mourant, Berbice- sponsored Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA) Under-19 50-over round robin competition played Saturday last saw Scottsburg United, No.66 Cricket Club and No. 72 Cut & Load secure victories in round one.
The competition continues today, when No. 73 Cricket Club battle with the Radha Krishna Foundation Academy, while No. 66 attempt to overthrow Scottsburg United and No. 72 Cut and Load duke it out with No. 48 Cricket Club.
In last week’s action, Scottsburg United defeated Radha Krishna Foundation Academy by 37 runs at Scottsburg Ground. Batting first, Scottsburg United scored
90 all out in their allotted 24 overs, with Akhtar Nohar top scoring with 18 and C. Bubhram supporting with 15. Radha Krishna Foundation Academy had Rasheed Alli lead the bowling department with 3 for 9, while Vedanand Kumar had 3 for 26 and N. Doodnauth had 3 for 26.
In reply, Radha Krishna was unable to chase down the total, and was bowled out for 53 in 17.4 overs, with S. Nohar bagging 6 for 13 and R. Jamalodeen supporting with 2 for 17.
At the No. 48 ground, No. 66 Cricket Club defeated No. 48 by 7 wickets. After winning the toss, No. 48 elected to bat first, and were bowled out for 81 runs in 20 overs. Sunil Singh top scored with 15.
No. 66’s Jason Boodhan took 4 for 26 in 4.2 overs, and Naresh Satram claimed 3 for 24 in his 4 overs. In Reply, No. 66 overhauled the score, losing 3 wickets in the process as Charran Singh top scored with 23.
At the No. 72 Ground, the home team was led by Seiraj Chatterpaul, finishing with 6 – 21 as they brushed aside No. 73 with relative ease.
