Young Warriors Cricket Club receive support from US-based Flat Rate Realty

The recently-resuscitated Young Warriors Cricket Club are making rapid strides to return to their former glory.
In an effort to assist that development, Mahaish Ramoutar of Flat Rate Realty, Queens, New York, USA, provided cash to his former cricket club.
On a recent visit to Guyana, Ramoutar said that he was happy to give back to the Club he played for as a kid and has fond memories of those days. He noted that he was one of the first set of cricketers when the Club was formed under Orin Archer’s leadership, and was very happy to see their growth over the years, as they have produced many fine cricketers, with the latest being West Indies’ newest batting sensation, Shimron Hetmyer.
Ramoutar pledged to garner more help for the Club from former players and persons from the Cumberland area now residing in the USA.
Former national player and Coach Hubern Evans thanked Ramoutar for his kind contribution and urged Guyanese in the New York area to support his business so that he could continue to give back to his place of birth.
Evans continued by saying that it was common that things that take many years to

build could be destroyed easily with poor management and the YWCC were a good example, emphasising that the administrators who took over the Club, allowed it to go to ruins, with the tractor being destroyed, covers disappeared; and pavilion, fence and the entire facility needing urgent repairs.
He said, however, that there was still hope and boasted that since the resuscitation, the Club have participated in three First-Division competitions run by the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) and booked a place in the finals of all three, a significant achievement.
The YWCC have also topped their zone in the NBS Second-Division cricket competition now in progress. He thanked the players for their commitment and the hunger they have displayed so far.
In closing, Evans called on former club members and other community minded citizens to come on board and support the YWCC. He also encouraged parents to come to the ground and bring along their kids to play cricket.
