6-month-old child’s condition deteriorates

Linden poisoning

…mother, daughter remain
hospitalised

As Police continue their investigation into the poisoning of two Linden children by their mother, who also consumed the poisonous substance, the younger of the two children’s health has deteriorated. This, according to Police, led to the six-month-old child being transferred from the Linden Hospital Complex to the Georgetown Public Hospital at about 12:00h on Friday. The 24-year-old woman and her eight-year-old daughter remain patients at the LHC.
Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) Divisional Commander, Superintendent Hugh Winter has noted that Police will have to seek legal advice on the way forward.
The Regional Commander said the Police are continuing with the investigation. Following the investigation, Superintendent Winter said the file will be sent for legal advice.
The Police had launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to the hospitalisation of a Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) mother and her two children, who were admitted to the Linden Hospital Complex after consuming a poisonous substance.
Reports are that the 24-year-old mother had allegedly fed her eight-year-old daughter and six-month-old son with the substance before consuming it herself. Reports are that the incident occurred at about 10:00h at Wisroc, Linden, and they were later rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC).
