Alleged cow thief abandons animal upon seeing Police

A 23-year-old man was arrested in the wee hours of Thursday, moments after he was seen trying to steal a cow at J.C. Chandisingh Street in Rose Hall Town, Corentyne, Berbice.

The Police have said that on the day in question, at about 1:20h, a party of Police ranks were on motorcycle patrol within the Rose Hall Town Station District when they observed the cow, which was tied with a rope around its neck, being carried by the suspect across the JC Chandisingh Public Road.
However, upon seeing the ranks, the man quickly abandoned the animal and ran away. As such, the ranks took the animal to the Rose Hall Town Police Outpost, where it was lodged.

Subsequently, upon patrolling the said area, the suspect was contacted, arrested, and placed in custody pending further investigations.
Upon his arrest, he had in his possession a blue canvas rope, a white canvas rope, a cap and a torchlight.
