Canada to test Golden Jaguars

Guyana National Men’s Football team, the Golden Jaguars will take on football giants Canada who will be fielding an under-23 squad on May 15 at the National Stadium, Providence.
At a press conference hosted by the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) on Friday at its headquarters along with representatives from the Guyana national team and the Canadian High Commission used the opportunity to update the public on an International Friendly which is in celebration of Guyana’s 50th Anniversary.
Head Coach of the Guyana national men’s team Jamaal Shabazz expressed his excitement in playing a team of such magnitude while applauding the individuals who made this exciting encounter possible.
Shabazz further commented on the benefits of the game which to home are to strengthen the programme, prepare them for the Caribbean Football Cup (CFU), will show what the team has been working and will put Guyana on the map.
Eon Allen, mid-fielder of the Golden Jaguars who stated that “playing against Canada is a dream come through” further lamented that he is very excited and will seek to perform well since he is at the peak of his career.
In addition Canadian High Commissioner said that, “this will be an expression of our long term relationship and friendship that we have between both countries”.
President of the GFF, Wayne Forde concluded the press conference, mentioning that “I’m very thankful that the government is seeing football as a unify force”.
Guyana will look to continue their winning streak as they come against a worthy opponent such as Canada with the hope of building momentum towards heading to the Olympic Games.
