Chase, Annandale continue to look solid

Three-time defending champions Chase Academic Foundation along with Annandale Secondary who are having a dream debut, continue to showcase superiority over teams in the sixth annual Milo Schools Football tournament.
When action resumed on Monday due to the rain-affected weekend, nineteen goals were rocketed into the nets at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

The champs steamrolled Friendship Secondary 6-1 as captain Jeremy Garett (11th), Ronaldo Rodriquez with a double (29th & 30th), Stephan Reynolds (37th), Rondel Peters (55th) and Keane Lawrence (68th) cashed in against the inexperienced unit. Some respite for Friendship came when Jamal Scott caught the keeper napping and scored curler from mid-field in the 61st minute.
Likewise, Annandale’s demolition job of Carmel Secondary was led by national player Omari Glasgow with a stupendous hat-trick. He netted in the 14th, 31st, 42nd and 46th while fellow national player Troni Semple along with Jemar Robinson scored a brace each.
Semple made his mark in the 23rd and 25th while Robinson scored in the 11th and 59th; Marick Alli (5th) and Trevor Fifee (29th). Darren Niles in the 63rd scored a consolidation goal.
The final match of the night saw Businesses School defeat South Ruimveldt 2-0 with Akeem Lewis (6th) and an Own goal in the 61st doing the trick.
The next set of matches that have rolled over from the weekend will be played today and will see St Roses High coming up against Uitvlugt Secondary at 16:00h then Buxton Youth Development facing Charlestown Secondary followed by former champions Lodge Secondary in a battle against Queenstown Secondary.
The under-18 tournament which is held in collaboration with the Ministry of Education under theme “there is no excuse for violence” provides intense competition as teams are hoping to secure the first place prize of $500,000 which goes towards a school project. Second to fourth, will receive $300,000, $200,000 and $100,000 respectively which also go towards school projects.
