Kwakwani thrash Plaisance in highlight action of the night

The second night of play in the Youth Basketball Guyana Titan Bowl X competition ongoing at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall featured a total of six matches, with notable wins being achieved by St Stanislaus College, Marian Academy, Arima Secondary, Bishops’ High and Kwakwani Secondary in the under-16 and girls’ categories.

In the first game, St Stanislaus College easily defeated Queen’s College 40-27 in the girls’ category. The QC side never had a chance, as Saints extended their lead through the effortless scoring of Leana Benons, who produced 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 steals.
In a losing effort, Naiomi Barkoye produced 14 points and 16 rebounds for QC.
In the final girls’ game of the night, Marian Academy made light work of Kwakwani Secondary, defeating them 39-23. The back-and-forth encounter saw Shania Sears, with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 6 steals, and Atalia Rose, with 11 points and 13 rebounds, leading the way for Marian Academy.
Aaliya Singh scored 9 points and 5 rebounds for Kwakwani.
In this same under-16 category, Arima Secondary flipped the script on President’s College, whom they whipped 40-17. The Arima side were able to keep their opponents at bay, and only Kemal Mentore, with 8 points and 5 rebounds, scored in a losing effort for President’s College.
Kevon Phillips, with 11 points and 8 rebounds, and Kasim English, with 8 points and 4 rebounds, were able to make maximum use of the time and bag a win for Arima.
Marian Academy registered a 42-34 win over St Stanislaus to add valuable points to their tally. Jether Harris was able to score an all-time high of 28 points and 23 rebounds, being supported by Dwayne Best with 10 points.
Scoring for Saints in a losing effort was Mustapha Kadir, with 16 points and 27 rebounds; and Brandon McKoy, with 7 points.
The Bishops’ High/St Roses clash was a thriller from the get-go, a mere point separating them in the final analysis. Bishops’ just managed to defeat the Roses 35-34 for the win, gratitude due to Keron Bacchus, who contributed 20 points and 12 rebounds. Scoring for the Roses in a losing effort was Chris Perez, with 20 points and 6 rebounds.
In the final U16 match, Kwakwani Secondary administered a 68-5 thrashing on Plaisance Secondary. Clint Adolph, with 14 points and 6 rebounds, and Elijah David, with 15 points and 6 rebounds, top-scored for Kwakwani.
Ishmail Chapman, with 3 points, was the main scorer for Plaisance.
