Cristiano Jacobis and Malachi Moore came out on top in round-robin finals when the Guyana Table Tennis Association’s (GTTA) Independence competition continued on Sunday, May 24, at the National Gymnasium.
Jacobis won the boys’ 13 years and under category with a perfect 4-0 record, finishing on eight points. Zion Hickerson placed second with three wins and one loss for seven points, while Levon Williams was third with a 2-2 record and six points. Ethon Marks finished fourth and Nathaniel Harper fifth.
In the boys’ 19 years and under round-robin finals, Moore also finished unbeaten with four wins from four matches to claim first place with eight points. Akeem Hall was second with three wins and one loss, while Meusa placed third with two wins and two losses. Tyler Bhojedat finished fourth, and Rajha Braithwaite was fifth.
In the girls’ 13 years and under singles, Ava Hall topped the group, ahead of Fabianna John and Gabrielle Mohabir. The group was closely contested, with Hall defeating John 3-0, John beating Mohabir 3-0, and Mohabir edging Hall 3-2.

Samara Sukhai led the girls’ 15 years and under group with six points, followed by Shackecy Damon on five. John finished third, while Ashayla Tixey placed fourth.
Sukhai also impressed in the girls’ 19 years and under division, winning Group One ahead of Angel Robinson and John. In Group Two, Seona Barker finished first, with Damon second and Tixey third. In the main draw, Sukhai defeated Damon 3-0, while Barker battled past Robinson 3-2 to set up the final.
The C Class singles also produced several strong performances, with Akeem Hall, Nevaeh Clarkston, Kayden Meusa, Dhanesh Persaud, Owan Wills, Matthew Jordon, Samara Sukhai and Vibert Williams among the group winners who advanced to the main draw.
