Who will be the new addition to the Guyana Jaguars 4-Day Team?

– Lewis, Ali-Mohammed and Anderson in contention

With Shimron Hetmyer, Keemo Paul, Raymond Reifer, Chanderpaul Hemraj and Sherfane Rutherford in contention regarding the playing of the remaining matches for the West Indies against Bangladesh, selectors may have their eyes set on new players.

Cricket West Indies’ (CWI’s) Regional 4-day tournament is scheduled for Thursday December 6, nine days away; and selectors would have already shortlisted a few players who could earn selection for the Guyana Jaguars team. The tournament is less than 10 days away, and the squad will be announced shortly.
The person next in line to make his debut may be 20-year-old Renaldo Ali-Mohammed, who was selected to play in the Regional Super50 tournament for the Guyana Jaguars. Mohammed has represented the West Indies under 19 team, and has had a fruitful 2018, smashing two centuries in the recently concluded Cricket Guyana Inc. (CGI) 50-over franchise league.

Ramaal Lewis

Mohammed’s sensational season saw him score 105 and 101 against Lower Corentyne and West Demerara respectively; and he is also known for his right-arm seam bowling, would gives him an edge over other players.
Kevlon Anderson has a name that likely bombards the selectors’ ears very often; at 18 years old, he is considered the best youth batsman in the country, but he still has some distance to go.
Anderson had as great a year with the bat as Mohammed, piling up century upon century in first division cricket, under 19 cricket, under 21 cricket, and second division cricket. However, his sensational 116 against a star-studded Georgetown team at Bourda in the (CGI) Franchise league is the century that stands out. Additionally, Anderson has had a century in the (CGI) 3-day franchise against East Coast.

Renaldo Ali Mohammed

22-year-old Jamaica-born Ramaal Antwaine Lewis has played one first class match for Jamaica in 2015: at Kingston against Barbados from March 20-23, 2015. He tasted success in the recently concluded Regional Super 50 Tournament, and has snared 20 wickets in ‘List A’ cricket, with best bowling figures of 4-25 against Windward Islands at Tarouba this year.
Lewis showed his consistency with the ball in the CGI 50-Over franchise cricket, emerging as the leading wicket-taker. He recently showed his potential with the bat when he stroked a composed 46 in the trial match at Everest.
